Iwakuni Castle 8-3-2013

Since we were already at the Kintai for the fireworks we decided to spend some time finally checking out the castle. The castle was originally constructed in 1601 by Kikkawa Hiroie, but was dismantled in 1615. A replica of the castle tower was built and placed on a hill (mountain) above the Nishiki River and Kintai Bridge.

Clock that sits at the top of the hill near the castle

The air traffic control tower way in the background!

One of the ways you can take to get up to the castle

Small walk to get to the castle (which felt like a hike in the heat!)

Artifacts inside the castle

Pictures of castles all over Japan

Looking down from the top of the castle... Yes it was very high!

Kintai Bridge Fireworks 8-3-2013

No idea what to write about these Fireworks since it was so long ago! Hahahaha These were probably our least favorite of the ones we went to but maybe if we had a spot a little further back we would have enjoyed them more. :)

However, Haylen had a blast getting to play in the water all day and I must admit it was nice to be able to cool off even if it was just our feet! It was so HOT!!!

Did I mention it was hot?!?!?!?! LOL
